Meet our Church Leaders
Pastor Sue Kiefner
Sue Kiefner is a Lay Pastor for the East District of the EPAUMC. Her love for Jesus came later in life when she began to search for deeper meaning and discovered God’s redeeming grace. From the moment she realized what Jesus did for her (and all people), she felt a call to do all she could to share the message of God’s love, hope, and forgiveness with others. Sue feels most satisfied when she is doing work for the church. She wants to lead people to a deeper understanding of themselves and help them build a relationship with God. Her heart overflows with love when she hears stories of salvation and always looks for ways to help those in need.
Sue and her husband Steve have two active teenagers who play softball and baseball. Sue is becoming a master at carpool coordination.

What do United Methodists believe?

Where should I park? Is there handicapped parking?
There is a parking lot on the southside of the building. There are handicapped parking spaces available.
Is Salem UMC handicap accessible?
Yes! When you enter through the double red doors on the front of the church, you will find a chair lift to the second-floor sanctuary. Those who prefer, can notify a congregant to be escorted to the rear entrance, where there are only 4 short steps to enter directly into the second floor.
What should I expect?
Salem UMC holds a traditional worship service. Songs come from the United Methodist Hymnal and the words are projected onto the wall to make it easier to read.
What is the history of this church?
While another church was located on the property long ago, the current church was built in 1842. Nestled in the small town of Springtown, PA, this historic church is also home to the Salem United Methodist Church Cemetery, also known as Old Springtown Graveyard. This cemetery is home to Revolutionary War veterans and others from the surrounding communities.
What should I wear?
All people are welcomed at church. This means it doesn’t matter what you are wearing when you come to church. Join us and sit be in the presence of God, for He loves you just the way you are.
Is there Sunday School?
Following a short children’s message, kids are invited to join the teacher in the fellowship hall for Sunday School.
Is there Children's Church or a Nursery available?
Children are invited to attend worship, no matter their age. While there is no childcare, there is Sunday School for toddlers and elementary school children. Have an infant? Don’t worry! The pastor welcomes the sounds of children during the service.
Is the church available for outside events (i.e., weddings, etc.)?
The church has a fellowship hall and full kitchen for events. Contact the church office for availability and more details at 610-248-1271.
How do I become a member of the church?
Come to church and meet with the pastor. Do you have questions about the United Methodist Church? Just ask. All are welcome.
